I hope everyone had a wonderful 3 day weekend. This week will be structured as the past 2 weeks have been. A few reminders: Students are expected to work 1 hour - 1 and a half hours on academic work this includes lessons sent from Art, Music, and P.E.. teachers. With that being said, my number one concern and Fouse's number one concern is the well being and emotional needs of you and your family. Make modifications as you see fit and pace your child's work throughout the day allowing for fun and break time whenever needed. You child should be logging into Google classroom everyday. Although I am attaching the information for you through the Website and Bloomz, your child should be in the habit and completing the attendance form/question daily and looking at his/her assignments. It is expected that each student "submits" or "turns in" the assignment through google classroom. If an activity was completed on other paper at home, simply snap a photo and email me, post it to Bloomz portfolio, or submit the photo through the Google Classroom app. Did you know you can check FOUSE PTO Facebook page to get daily announcements. You child will probably enjoy watching the short video and seeing and hearing some normalcy from their daily school life. Finally, there will be 2 opportunities to chat with me and classmates this week. Google meet is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday 10:30-11:00. These are not mandatory but just an opportunity to keep the kids connected.
April 6, 2020 Dear families, Today officially starts the online distant learning. Please keep in mind that this is new for all of us, and we are going to hit some bumps, but we will make it through! I am learning more and more every day. I have not been in the building since that last Friday of school. I am searching everyday for resources to make online learning interesting and fun. I’ve worked really hard to try to make everything as organized & easy to navigate as possible. Please reach out with any questions! GOOGLE CLASSROOM will be where all academic material will be posted. Once you are in Google Classroom go to the “classwork” tab at the top. I have everything organized by day. I will also load things to Bloomz as we have been using that all year long. I have been updating my website as well: considine.weebly.com. Students are expected to complete 1- 1 ½ hours of academic work daily. Of course, you get the time completed however it works best for your family. Assignments are organized by subject on one slide. I have inserted links (hopefuly they all work with no problem). I also have added the worksheets. The papers are loaded as PDF, if you can print them that is fantastic, but if you can’t it is okay - view the papers and write the answers on separate paper. I like to remind myself as I teach to always go back to the purpose of the paper. Ex. Don’t get hung up on the frills of coloring, gluing, cutting, etc. If the purpose is for your child to understand plural nouns, then when he/she finishes the activity that is the ultimate goa.l However you need to adapt the worksheet for this online learning is fine with me. If you could snap a photo and upload it to your child’s portfolio on Bloomz that would be great, or email it to me. You can also add it to Google Classroom. Any method that is easy for you is fine with me. ALL students are expected to use Lexia, Dreambox, Reading A-Z (Raz-Kids) daily and meet their weekly requirements. I will be monitoring progress. I will be creating “office hours” where we can meet as a class face to face through Google meet. Google meet is a video chat (child friendly and approved by the school district) through Google Chrome. You can locate it by clicking on the 9 dot waffle in the upper right corner next to your child’s log in. Once I get a schedule set up, I will let you know. I AM HERE! I will be checking in on them on the internet & with phone calls. If they are giving you any trouble about doing school work at home let me know & I will call and talk to them. It is very important for you & them to know that First Grade is not over, and we still have learning to do! Stay safe, stay healthy, together we can get through this. Warmly, Emily Considine
